1.One feather from the Good Lord Bird will bring you understanding for the rest of your life. It represents an angel, something so perfect that no one will touch it. For Henry it might mean a few different things. For one it may mean a peaceful relationship between him and Old John Brown, since Brown gave him one of it's feathers as a sign of good faith. Another possibility is maybe Henry himself is the Good Lord Bird. The way that he is protected by the others, and even being praised by John Brown at times. (Page 33, Chapter 2)

          2. Henry's nickname is Onion. He earned this nickname because John Brown had this onion in his possession that he considered to be a lucky charm. He gave it to Henry, and because he was hungry and confused, Henry took a bite from it without knowing that it meant something to John Brown. So now Brown calls him Onion because he is now his lucky charm. (Page 24, Chapter 2)

          3. The reason why Henry is continuing to live this lie is because he doesn't have any responsibilities. As a "girl" all he was asked to do was wash clothes and fetch water. If they knew he was a young boy maybe they would have treated him differently. So because of this i believe he is justified.

Lying

Is it ever okay to lie? Lying has always been a heated debate on whether or not it should be done. I know when I was a young kid my mother would always tell me that lying is a horrible thing to do. "No one likes a liar" she would say to me, and because of this I thought it was something that people never did. As I got a little older, I got a little wiser as well. I realized that as still a child there where things I could not understand, even if they would explain to me the truth. For example, when you ask a parent the classic question where do babies come from, what is a parent supposed to do? Now that i have grown into a young adult I personally think that lying sometimes is fine, especially when you do it to protect someone else. Yet even when telling the truth may be hard, it might be the better route in the long run. In Henry's case in the Good Lord Bird if he doesn't lie it may cost him is life.

Getting to know me.

1. My whole life I have been playing sports, but I have played some more than others. When I was very young till I was about 12 or 13 I was training to get my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I would do this every single day of many years until I finally reached the highest rank. Because of this training early in my life I think I was able to pick up on other sports fairly quickly like soccer, football and even baseball.

2. As of right now in my life I find it incredibly difficult to be passionate about something in my free time, seeing that my free time is very limited. However, I will say that my passion for wanting to do well academically this semester has definitely increased.

3. Come to think of it I don't really tell that big of lies. My most frequent lie however is telling people my age. Whenever people ask me how old I am, I always respond with " How old do you think I am"? They usually give me a long look as they think about it and then they say " 24"! Then I say "yes, yes you guessed right"! I am not sure what it is but people think I look a little older then I actually am.

4.Typically when I begin to write I like to create a nice environment around my laptop. Whether it be by some good music playing in the background, or my friends so they can distract me with conversation every once in awhile. When I am comfortable I just let the words flow onto the page.

5. My writing experience thus far has been enjoyable. At least what I can tell from my previous English courses writing comes easy to me. This semester I would like to work on my procrastination, seeing that it has been a habit of mine that I have not been able to shake.

6. The most recent book I have read would be the first book to the Game of thrones series. A wonderful read, especially if you love the show.

7. Facebook was the first social media website I was on back in my early high school days. But those days are gone so now I do not even use Facebook anymore. Now I frequently use Twitter, Instagram, and of course Snapchat. There really isn't  day that goes by where I am not opening those apps multiply times a day.

8. The most important thing for me to learn this semester is how to be a little more responsible. I want to do this so i can stop procrastinating all the time.

9. My definition of a hero is someone who is fearless. Someone who no matter what, does what needs to be done even if it isn't pretty. Someone who is loyal and brave and just all around caring. I am of course speaking about my mother. To me she is a hero in her own right. What she has had to give up so that her son is able to have an education is insane.

10. The last time I truly failed something was my Freshman year at Fdu. I think academically it was probably the worst semester in my entire academic career. But since then my grades have been great and I am working my way to mending that mistake.

11. I would have to give myself an A. I believe that I am an exceptional writer and I have believed this since I first remembered what I was writing. I only say this because I actually enjoy it so much, I know that I have my grammatical errors and such but when is comes to truly expressing yourself on an blank page I think I am very good.
